Feel The Cuban Rumba Tropical Salsa
Rhythm in New York
York City is the largest city
in the US and one of the largest in the world.
Founded by the Dutch in the early
16th century, the city (and the state) got its name from the
Duke of York, who would later rule both England and Scotland.
The city started out as a trading
post and has remained a major commercial center ever since, influencing
the world in matters of finance, fashion, entertainment and the
arts, among other areas.
New York is also the birthplace
of modern salsa, which started among Cuban and Puerto Rican immigrants
in the 1960s and after.
That makes it the perfect place
to hear Cuban music or Latin music, or to take in a Latin them
party, Latin dance show or Cuban theme party.
New York has a skyline that is
recognizable world wide and is the home of the skyscraper.
In fact, it has more skyscrapers
than anywhere in the world, with the number estimated at more
than 5,500.
The city is located on the Hudson
River, with many of its structures built on Manhattan Island,
Staten Island and Long Island. Its climate is humid sub tropical,
though winters tend to be cold.
The average high temperature
during January is a chilly 38F, while temperatures feel more
Caribbean in summer at a warm 83F.
The city is home to many cultural
activities, so it's a great place for the bands and dancing that
salsa dancers enjoy. In fact, there's non stop entertainment
in New York, as well as plenty to see and do.
